CLUES: Berlin retrofit workshop & Stockholm workshop, 27th January 2012, Nottingham

The CLUES project (www.ucl.ac.uk/clues) will be holding its 3rd workshop on decentralised energy systems, “Performance Contracting and Retrofit: an example of Berlin’s success” on 27th of January in Nottingham, with presentations from:

Susanne Berger from the Berlin Energy Agency

Mark Gillott from the University of Nottingham.

A brief tour of the Creative Energy Homes (www.creative-energy-homes.co.uk) is also included. Please see the draft of the agenda.

The final workshop will be “Making energy efficiency and innovation pay: an example of Kungsbrohuset office building, Stockholm, Sweden” on the 2nd of February at UCL, London and will include presentations from:

Klas Johansson, Head of Sustainability at Jernhusen (www.jernhusen.se), the company in charge of the Kungsbrohuset project

Sarah Cary, Sustainable Developments Executive at British Land, to discuss the Ropemaker project (www.ropemakerlondon.com).

Kungsbrohuset building (www.kungsbrohuset.se) is an innovative eco-smart office building located in the center of Stockholm. The objective of the building is to create a development where the environment and energy-efficiency are central considerations: together with energy efficient materials, the building uses various eco-smart solutions such as a ‘green button’ automated energy cut-off, a heating system using heat extracted from the body heat gains at the central train station, and integrated weather forecasting for heating and cooling controls, amongst other innovations. The aim of the workshop is to introduce the Kungsbrohuset building and its innovative features and to discuss if this type of project would be commercially feasible in the UK.

Attendance is free for both workshops. Please contact Dr Ksenia Chmutina at k.chmutina@lboro.ac.uk to register. A detailed agenda and directions will be circulated nearer the time.
