The aim of this module is to cover in considerable depth topics like: solid state physics of PV cells, PV systems and components, thin film PV manufacturing and design and Solar thermal analysis.
Students will gain knowledge and understanding of central design principles and considerations used in photovoltaic systems, central performance parameters for photovoltaic components and systems, underlying operational theory of pn junction semiconductor PV devices, the development and optimisation of the modern Si solar cell and others.
